Padi Courses for 2007:
Deep Diver Course
This 2-Day course with 4 dives to the depths from 18m/60ft to 40m/130ft while diving safely within the no-decompression limits.
Course Overview
The purpose of the PADI Deep Diver specialty course is to familiarize
divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures,
techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of diving between the
depths of 18 metres/60 feet to 40 metres/130 feet. The Deep Diver
specialty course is intended to serve as a safe, supervised introduction
to deeper diving within the limits of recreational scuba diving. Training
should emphasize fun and safety. The goals of PADI Deep Diver
training are:
A. To develop the students theoretical knowledge of deep diving.
B. To enable the student to plan, organize and make no-decompression
dives between the depths of 18 metres/60 feet to 40
metres/130 feet.
Course Requirements
A. Prerequisite certification: PADI Adventure Diver or have a
qualifying certification from another training organization.
B. Minimum age requirement: 15 years.
C. Student-to-instructor ratio: 8:1, to certified assistant: 4:1.
During deep dives, students are to be accompanied by the
course instructor or a certified assistant (PADI Instructor,
PADI Assistant Instructor or PADI Divemaster). During
Open Water Training Dive One, the instructor must be in
the water directly supervising the diving students.
D. The Deep Dive from the PADI Adventures in Diving program may
be counted toward the certification requirements for this specialty
at the discretion of the instructor conducting the specialty course.
E. Confined water training may be added at the discretion of the
instructor conducting the specialty course. As a preassessment
before the course begins, a confined water session may include a
scuba skills review. The PADI Skill Evaluation or Scuba Review
program is an excellent way to accomplish such a review.
